Katana 1360 build
This is my 1360 Katana build, I started having a bit of a top end noise and finally decided to strip the old girl down.
I found #4 piston lightly touching the head, the little end has worn a bit much, there is no bush in these little ends, it becomes a major task to replace conrods.
What to do?
Since I had been accumulating various parts for a spare motor, I had most of an EFE motor like
Crankshaft, cases, transmission, barrel, one thing I did not have was pistons... yet... I wanted to make this build a "big bore".
I'm rather fortunate in having a genius engine man just up the road from me, Joe Marshall.
It's Joe's ideas and machining that I'm building.
Anyway, the build has started.
I'm using an EFE bottom end with 1200 Bandit sleeves bored out to 81mm and Hyabusa pistons, this gives it a capacity of 1360cc's
For the moment, I'll be using a stock Katana 1100SZ head with some fairly warm cams and I'm using GSXR750 carbies, I have another head which I'll put my larger valves in, as I
want to get some dyno figures to compare for some real world figures.
Some pictures....
From top to bottom, stock 72mm bore, 78mm and 81mm bore

From left to right, 81mm bore, 78mm and stock 72mm bore.
And same again.
What a stock 74mm EFE piston look like in the 1360 81mm bore...
